Paint stripping rims
Has anyone used paint stripper on thier rims? I was going to get that aircraft stripper and take the paint off of a set of deep v's. I just dont want it to weaken the rims some how.

check out this PDF and this link that i just googled up. it says that alkaline/acidic strippers can degrade aluminum. i know i have personally used oven cleaner (a strong base stripper as opposed to an acid) about a year ago to strip a pair of rims (from what i thought was anodizing but it could have very well been paint on second thought) and it was a pain in the ass, but it worked. i've had no issues with the rims structurally. took lots of time and lots of sanding/steel wool scrubbing, and i only did the braking surfaces of the rims. i can't image doing the entire rim that way.
with all of that said, it probably won't ruin your rims but it might leave some discoloration which can be sanded/steel wooled off. i'd give it a go.

Just use acetone, that **** won't affect the Al, and will strip the paint right off.
