Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

To All The Folks Who Complain About Flex

To all the folks who complain about flex in their cranks and flex in their track bikes - if you have such damn powerful legs why aren't you tearing up the track circuit on a sponsored team with all the fancy high-end parts that go with sponsorship?

It doesn't take much strength to notice that some bikes have more give to them. Crappy bottom brackets flex some.

Best of luck with getting that response you want.

You realize that you can flex a frame with your bare hands, right? Imagine how much it's going to flex when it's actually ridden, especially when a rider gets out of the saddle. You don't have to be Theo Bos to feel a bottle bracket flex on a ride.

Yeah, I could flex my old Tange Bridgestone just by pressing down on the frame. I could see the bike flex in front of my very eyes. In fact, I think I got the idea from another thread on this forum about frame flex.

You CAN feel the flex when trackstanding only shifting the weight from a feet tho the other.

I weight 85 kilos, when trackstanding my old Bottecchia steel road frame flexes a lot, my Dazzan vintage steel track flexes a bit, my Cinelli Alluminium hardly noticeable and my Kona steel MTB is a rock and doesn't move at all.
First 3 bikes have vintage Campy track cranks ant the Kona shimano road cranks.

OP, you're pretty dumb.

after reading this thread ... i realized that my legs are indeed quite large.

i then contacted Look and Shimano, who then proceeded to offer me a full sponsorship to race under their names for the next up and coming track season.

i'd like to thank the OP for bringing my own strength to my knowledge
