I like how they talk about how to install it but I wish there was more of a post install review of how it rides etc...

Granted I know how they ride as they are what I have on my Bridgestone.

There was a post about that hardware in the last few days if you wanted more info on them. Im currently working on tracking down someone who has been email scamming campuses across the nation, so I cant look for it right now. But its there.

i still think they look super similar to iros.

I still think they're nothing special. I hope Alien brings some innovative products besides the pedals.

You are right they really aren't anything super special. They are relatively cheaper IMO and allow for a cool black crank option but other then that nothing special.

difference from IRO's are a bigger BCD pattern and a thicker chainring for the same price. Aliens win. unless you like 3/32

Well, most of us should like 3/32, since it's cheaper, easier to obtain, and offers the same functionality as 1/8. Unless you're a track purist of one sort or another, there's no real reason to ride 1/8.

If by purist, you mean "poseur" then yes. 3/32 is way lighter.

Well, I actually use 1/8 on my track bike, because I've been racing track for years, and it wasn't until recently that 3/32 track stuff (144BCD) became widely available. Thing is, most people don't need "track stuff," because they're not going to the track. So yeah, posers.

I'll attempt to tell you but I am not too versed in the ways a crank on a road bike should feel. I run 46x16 and hit some climbs so they get a lot of force put on them and they feel still. If anything I can really feel the frame thru their stiffness. As far as weight goes I am sure they can be a lot lighter, but I honestly could care less about the weight. They were a good price IMO for new cranks + bb, look great, and spin stiff and smooth.

Calling people posers for their 1/8" drive train is more ******** (and more posing) than actually riding a 1/8" drivetrain.

I like my 1/8" drivetrain. I feel like its stronger, reminds me of my motorcycle chain and a tad easier to work with in my opinion.

+233 on 1/8". Even if it's technically no better than 3/32, having the beefiest equipment available and stuff that's true-to-track gives me piece of mind, and I'm happy to pay more/search harder for it.
