36 hole hub, 32 hole rim?
I have a deep burning for a build with a 700 rim with a kick back/ coaster brake. I want it to be kinda nice and have an extra unlaced open pro which matches the front wheel, only problem is i have not been able to find a 32 hole hub anywhere, in 3 months of salvaging and talking to shops. I know these hubs are mostly meant for beach crusiers and the 36 count would help with the abuse those bikes get but i have all the parts, spokes and all and just want to finish it.
the big question, can you build a 36 hub to a 32 rim by leaving 2 spoke holes empty at 12 o clock and six oclock? Any ideas, any experiences? |
Thats a front hub. He was looking for a rear coaster hub that was 32h.
/fail |
get a 36H rim.

I'm in the same boat right now. I've got some velocities I want to put on a coaster brake.
If you don't already have the rims, you could get some Weimann Deep-V's, which are 700c and 36h. |

That sounds like a really bad and potentially dangerous idea. Get a 36 hole rim. |
good luck calculating the spoke lengths.

Resurrecting from the dead,
Clayborne, did you ever do this? if so did it work? or did you scrap the 32 hole rim for a 36 hole? I am curious because I have a front I want to build and am having not good luck getting a good 32 hole front hub and have a 36 hole Phil I could use. Anyone else try this? |

The bottom line is that it has been done. There's more to it than just leaving a few spoke holes empty because the necessary spoke lengths change. |
