When they are red I stop, and foot-stand. When they are green I go. When they are yellow, I stop if safe, go if not safe to stop. Just about the same as I would in the car, except for the foot stand.

i yell obnoxiously in the face of pedestrians, buzz them closely (scaring the **** out of them) and go through the ride light, risking life and limb.

If I can see the light is about to change, I'll slow down. If I know the light will not change for me and there are no cars around to change the light, I will stop then check for cross traffic and go.
Otherwise, get in line and wait with the rest of the vehicles.

I'll disagree for the block Alex....
Ask any messenger, getting a ped to pick up the pace, or not jump in front of you to begin with is a very useful skill on the streets. If you've got the green and the jaywalking peds are streaming across the red b/c of no cars, getting them to move enmass is useful......and FUN!!!

for the most part its just a track stand (i usually ride clipless) but depending on the light (some of them around here are pretty long) I'll do one handed/nohanded trackstands and backwards circles to kill the time

generally i slow down and check for traffic, then run it if none is coming. even at green lights in busy areas where people turn left into the flow, i slow down a bit. not getting hit is more important to me than blindly asserting my right of way.

If it's yellow and I can "safely" make it through, I'll find a way.
If it's red, I'll trackstand or pretentiously sit on my top tube looking like I don't have time for this ****.
If I'm feeling generous I'll trackstand between the curb and left lanes, so ...
I normally go through the intersection once opposing traffic gets a yellow (if clear) or during the mutual red - that lets me get out front and move back over to the right.

I usually try to rub one out while I trackstand. Either that, or some fishtail skids.

I will typically slow down and check for the intersection to clear. If it is safely clear I will go ahead thru the intersection. Where I live, people have no comprehension of bikes so I have to play different cards. I can't just expect folks to notice me. Most of the time I will treat the red light like a stop sign though.
