Buying a Cannondale Capo and selling the parts
With my shop discount, I can get the Capo for $450, or just the Capo frameset for $340
I'm thinking I'll get the Capo for $450, sell the parts, and use the funds to upgrade the bike.
Frame CAAD5 Optimo Track
Fork Slice Ultra
Rims Mach1 510 w/machined sidewall, 32 hole
Hubs Formula Track, Flip-flop
Spokes DT Swiss Champion, 14g
Tires Maxxis Fuse w/nylon belt, foldable, 700 x 25c
Pedals Wellgo resin platform w/Kraton insert
Crank FSA Vero, 48
Chain KMC 8-speed
Rear Cogs Shimano 17T freewheel
Bottom Bracket Shimano BB-UN26
Handlebars Cannondale C3, 31.8mm
Stem Cannondale C4
Headset Alloy integrated, 15 mm top cap
Brakeset Shimano Sora
Brakelevers Tektro Road
Saddle Selle San Marco Ponza Lux
Seat Post Cannondale C2 Carbon-wrapped
How much do you guys think I can sell the components (minus the frame & fork), in un-used condition for?

Huh, I really don't like that colour scheme at all, the naked aluminium one is so much nicer. I took one for a test ride in the summer and it was pretty nice but not very responsive. But that is just me.
In response to your question, it is a perfect plan and cannot fail.

if you sell off the wheels, you'll be selling them to somebody who doesn't know that they can buy very similar wheels for about $130.
you can sell em for $200 if you're lucky.
and then you've got $200. and you'll have to spend more than that to actually upgrade.

Well you can probably sell them for more. Depending on who you sell them to and how desired they are.
Most of those components arent like "oooo aahhh outstanding" components, even though they are basically new and only have been installed.
I did the same thing your trying to do with my Felt TK2 when i first purchased it. It worked great in my favor. I basically got my frame for cost and Sugino 75 cranks and BB for free after i sold all my components. Thats a $300 'come up'.
If i were you id keep the stem, seat, and seatpost. Untill you can upgrade them. Because theyll never sell for maybe more than $10-$25 a piece, new or used.
Sell the brakes and brake levers first because those are desired by more people, unless your going to use them.
And then sell the cranks, BB, and the wheels. But sell them unused because theyre worth more. But if you need em then use em.

Go for it.. that's a very nice frame. Extremely lightweight. As you've noticed, the components are crap.. so with $100-200 net on the frame, you've got plenty leftover for parts. With little effort, you could probably get it below 15lbs. Plus the 08 red paintjob is beauty.

it's a good idea but in practice you may not be able to find a buyer for everything. you might be better building a bike with the take-off parts and selling it complete for cheap.

what im doing is buying the capo for $450 as opposed to just the frameset ($340) and using the money i make selling the parts to help with upgrades.
is that so confusing?

Just buy the bike complete and ride it around for a while until you learn more about what you want, parts etc...
I would personally keep the wheels and brakes, because sometimes it is handy to have a spare set for various reasons....

I'd get the Mavic Ellipse rear wheel ($250, maybe less through your shop). It's raceable, but it's still clincher for riding on the road. Front track wheels are overrated, I would save money and get road wheel that someone took off their bike and doesn't want ($40 on CL), and one of those bolt on skewers ($10). That leaves you $150 for the crankset, you should be able to get something decent used.

i think it will look **** hot with all sliver components... nice frame colors, but i'm not sure why they went with black everything. white aeroheads, saddle and wrap would be super nice.
