Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

I can't seem to find a black rocket ring.

Also, where can I grab a black 3/32 chain?

yes and you can get them in any tooth count to I got mine for 20 from my lbs. If you offer the guy on ebay 20 he'll take it but you have to pay shipping so I went with my lbs

Danscomp has them for like $13, listed as "Universal Chainrings" (last I checked it was on the very last chainring page). The tabs for mounting on 110BCD cranks would stick down between each spider arm, but you could cut them off or something. Then it'd look like a Messenger unless you cut away extra material.

Sorry, but your pickings are pretty slim. I gave up and got a silver. Trust me, if you don't obsess about color matching small parts like handlebars, stem, seatpost, chain, cog, chainring, etc. you'll be much happier.

A bit OT but anyone know of anything relatively nice that comes in 1/8 width? I'm looking for a 44t and a lot of manufacturers don't go below 46.

If you're looking for black, the sugino messenger is nice.

I don't know if they're back in stock but TA rings are a good silver option.

I suggest you get either a Stronglight CT2 or a TA specialité.

You're joking, right? Who the hell worries about how a chainring looks?

I am very partial to certain designs. Chainrings can make or break the entire crankset, aesthetically speaking.

Yeah I've got a basically all-black bike except for the headset, seatpost clamp, crank, chain, and chainring so I figured dropping a black chainring without a new crank would even things out.

Check out Open Road bike shop on Sierra Madre (just north of Colorado, it's on the right).

Steve Lubanski is batsht crazy, but he has a lot of random cheap bike parts and an amazing selection of apparel.

Good advice but he's actually the only guy I go to for parts/advice. Awesome shop he's got.
