So that they'll have something to hold onto when they're reaching for their brake levers?

lol, as if that's as effective as whipping your head around.

ps: gloves aren't for *******... they cut out friction and make gliding your hands/hitching on cars a lot more pleasant.

Come to Michigan and say that. My commute this morning was about about 28 degrees before windchill, and it's been snowing steadily for the last 6 hours or so.

agreed.
it was 18 degrees when I woke up today. Granted I wont be riding this morning probably because its all frozed over, but in this weather gloves is necessary if you want to remove your hands from the bars when youre done riding.

Same as in Maine. Gloves and heavy usage of wool are important when your weather looks like this:

Gloves are great when you have to pound on the roof of a car to wake the driver up.

Damn it. I just bought my bike a seatpost bandana and now you're telling me that seatpost grips are the new trend? At this rate I'll never be a hipster.

Come to Florida during peak summer with 150% humidity and ride without gloves. You might as well take your grips off, soak your hands in vegetable oil and go for a ride there chief.

I'm another one of those "full fingered gloves, always" kind of guys. My MTB past makes me feel downright naked without my gloves.
