Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

RIP Sheldon Brown..

I live a few miles from the shop he worked at. They are giving out these stickers that have a pic of him, and text that says "ride in peace." The double meaning is perfect.

I just built up #5... when people come to the shop looking for the the fixed gear guy I have to give credit where credit is due.

I have never had a better teacher.

Like many folks, Sheldon's advice is the reason I got a fixie.

In addition to being really smart, the thing I think I respect the most about Sheldon was how willing he was to share his knowledge with folks. How many times in my life have I blown someone off because I was "too busy" to help them? Sheldon always had a few extra seconds to answer my questions. I want to be more like that.
