Durkopp and LeJeune

Someone that lives in my block saw I had a track bike and so he invited me over to his app and showed me two track bikes that he wants to get rid off, one is a Lejeune, the other one is a Durkopp. I'm not very "connaisseur" of these brands and could only find few informations on the web. He said he would sell those frames for very cheap. I know you guys must know about those bikes. They are not complete but still. The frame are in ok shape. Let me know if these are valuable frames.

Lejeune is french, durkopp is german i beleive. both should be quality for the time they were made.

if they are cheap, and they fit, buy them.

id actually be interested in buying the durkopp. ha.

I don't know about the durkopp, but Lejunes are french, if I recall correctly, so it might have oddball french sizing on the stem and bottom bracket, which sucks.

Since they are cheap, you should buy them. You can always sell them on CL or ebay if it doesn't work out.

I just call him and he told me like 250 each, frame plus couple of parts on each. The durkopp has no wheels and no crank but the Lejeune is missing only the saddle and chain. And they are in 7 or 6/10 condition.
I think it's a great buy. I'll show you some pictures as soon as i'll get them. But I guess I'll sell the frames if they don't fit like pirate said.

edit: I just took a quick look at the frames and they were like out of reach so I couldn't figure out the sizes.

They looked somewhere between 53-57cm

btw, durkopp is german, and went out of business in the late 50's so you've got a nice vintage score right there. they also made scooters and motorcycles. the brand is still around, but they make sewing machines now. good stuff.

I emailed him and called him and didn't get a response. Maybe he's waiting to see if you'll take them.

(What size are the frames, anyway? That way I can stop bothering him if they're too big.)

Edit: Oh, 53-57. I'll definately take the Durkopp and would be interested in the LeJeune too. You can tell him that if you're not taking it yourself.

I saw the two on Craislist this week, just checked and the ad has dissapeared. They seemed pretty beat up IMO but the pic was real crappy. Can I see it? I've been riding a Lejeune this winter and loving it. Hope you scored a deal!

Paid more than advertised price, seller had lots of people interested (he said). They were not cared for and are pretty beat up , they will certainly need a repaint. There are no dings though. The Lejeune is complete and is very nice, its not the usual red/ blue. The durkopp is quite light for its age and will be extremely nice once repainted. What is nice is that it came with a very old dura ace track NJS crankset and campy bb (going on the lejeune). The bikes also came with 11 cogs , some chainrings and lots of parts. I think I did ok but they will require some work... I will probably post some pictures in the Classic/vintage forum asking for info if you want to see what they look like.

PS; JACQU3S are you the guy who bough the Gardin an Cambio frame from me?

Yea, I was in the running for these too but not ready to take on the work of restoring two bikes and selling one of them. The smallest was a 57 and a tad too big for me, so I'm not too upset.

Looking forward to seeing em on the street one day.

Why, in fact I am!

Posted a thread for the lejeune in the C & V forum if someone wants to see what it looks like at the moment. Je me disais que ça devait être toi étant donné qu'il doit pas y avoir grand monde qui s'appel Jacques qui ont un vélo de piste Lejeune à Montréal lol Glad to see the Cambio Rino is put to good use...
