Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

You are very right again. Alpine III are thick where it really counts.

yeah, I learned that one the hard way when I recommended and ordered all the parts for a guys wheel only to have the mechanic shake his head when I handed them to him to build.

Great spokes if the hub takes them. If you really want them, I'm sure Phil will punch the holes for them.

I have a Phil rear hub. I succesfully put an Alpine III all the way in the hole, so, no worries there!

Man, this hub is the **** - it's really overengineered. I can't believe these hubs ever stop working ever. Look at those bearings, look at that axle...

I'm 4 years into mine. The only problem I'm seeing so far is that the 6mm socket is rounding out b/c I'm sloppy with the wrench. But the nuts are easy to replace.
