Crank ???'s

I am going to be converting my single speed Centurion that I have been commuting on to a fixed gear over the next week, one of the things I was looking at was exchanging my current Shimano 105 (175mm crank arms) crankset to a 165mm or 170mm crankset.

My current bottom bracket is a 68x113 and I have noticed that most cranksets have a recommendation of 103-110mm. Is it as simple as purchasing a shorter spindle or getting a BB that is within the recommended length or is there more to this than I think?

I will be putting a Formula track hub in place of the 8/9 speed hub that is currently on the bike.

Try measuring the chainline on the inner ring, you may be able to get away with the same BB, I had an acceptable chainline with a 113 and shimano 105s. Then buy a cheap set of 170 105s and you'll be golden!

Good luck!
