Hey Deathhare,
I feel your pain as I went through this last year. "I have a silver hub, silver components...now why would I want a black lockring?"

Anyway, I found a silver DA lockring but can't remember where I got it from. I'll keep on searching my mind. I was never able to find a silver cog.

I know you probably are after a matching set, but the Surly lockrings are nice and can be had in silver...
https://www.universalcycles.com/searc...osearch=Search

I'll let you know if I can find out where I got my silver lockring.

Are you set on a DA cog, or are you just looking more for a high-quality silver cog? If the latter, consider a Phil Wood cog.

Those parts are custom plated, according to the description.

Tomity has done some of those nickle and gold plated cogs and lockrings. I don't know if that shop is selling the ones he plated and polished.

Doesnt have to be DA but i want a chrome cog and lockring and def dont want American parts. (so Phil is out) I know EAI has some too but im not down with those.
Sugino makes chrome ones but theyre damn expensive... https://www.takizawa-web.com/shop-tra...i-ALsmool.html so ill just hang till summer or something and visit Cycleland and pick up the chromed DA ones.
Unless something else surfaces.

Those Suginos aren't chrome. They are coated aluminum kinda like their S Cubic chain rings they used to have

deathhare, in the other thread, you said that you didn't care where which country a component or frame came from because it was all about YOU YOU YOU. Now you can buy exactly the cog you want, but won't buy a cog because it's made in America and you hate America sooooooooooooooooo much. Make up your mind.

If you specifically don't want American parts (which *is* sort of contradicting recent remarks on your part about not giving a **** ab out the country of origin if the part is good), at least recognize that the Phil Wood cogs are excellent. At this point, I pretty much won't consider anything else. Even regular DA cogs look like **** by comparison.

Who cares what the cog looks like though. It's a cog, you have one of them. Hubs I can understand.. cranks I can understand... but cogs?

once a part passes the threshold of appreciable function, other things don't bother me as much. will i still consider aesthetics? of course. i'd trust an eai superstar or phil more than a dura-ace with aftermarket plating, probably because the coveted finish is likely more durable on those finished from the factory.

Relax hot shot. I never asked for suggestions of chrome cogs...i asked where to buy the one i wanted. I know you got excited and jumped for the reply button but its not like that here.
Im against Phil and other American cogs mostly because they either cost more like the Phil (more than double the cost of the DA!) or are just plain inferior products to the DA one IMO. Not to mention the fact that ive used DA cogs and know and trust their longevity and quality. I tend to stick with stuff i trust. I want a DA so why the hell would i buy anything else? Especially if it were inferior or costs much more? Thats ****ing stupid.
Just like the analogy about Jonny Cycles in the other thread. Why would I buy a double the cost and probably inferior Jonny when I could order a Kalavinka for one thousand dollars less? Or a Kiyo or a Level or a Panasonic or a....

So you're panning the Phil cogs because you've never used them and you never will, because you've never used them.

GG.

GG.
Before you even post without thinking or reading, dont.
Its because they cost more than double what the DA cogs do.

To be fair, the quality of manufacture and finish is more that double that of DA cogs. Better quality, no question.

The OP asked a simple question as to where to get a certain cog and then some of you lambast him for not buying a different cog?

It must be a long boring winter for FG riding or some of you need to get outside to release some natural endorphins.

as you probably know, Kalavinka often has Tomity's chrome stuff in stock and they do ship internationally.

How is it a ridiculous claim? Have you compared the two side by side? Have you used both? I have. Suck it.
