Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Dude it's all about your spindle length. Different spindle lengths of different crank sets to get the 42mm.

For example, I have Dura Ace cranks up on a UN54 109mm BB. It's not perfectly 42mm but it's super close. Chain will not get tossed except with the loosest tension while going down the steepest hill (I know this by experience ).

Do you not have cranks yet, just a BB? Wade through eBay for old Shimano 600 cranks if you don't want to pay a lot, those seem like a steal compared to Sugino's cheap ****.

any decent shimano/sugino/whatever road crank should be good with the chainring on the inside.
