New Fetish Road Bike Frame! Cool!

What do you guys think? Scam?

I'm skeptical because I bid $15 and decided I didn't want it. The auction went way beyond me being 2nd place. For $45 (w/ s&h) I'll certainly take it, but do you guys think this is legit?

Hi peedtm,I am the seller of the NEW FETISH ROAD BIKE FRAME! COOL! - item # 150214367705, and I've just been contacted by the eBay staff who informed me that the winner of this item got rejected due to security reasons (either failed to follow through on the purchase commitment or outright refused to do so). Your last auctioned bid of US $15.00 prior to being outbided is taken into consideration as eBay policy automatically proclaims you to be the winner by default. Nevertheless,I need your agreement on this so I may contact eBay to confirm your winning position otherwise I'll relist the item. If you're interested please confirm by forwarding this message to e-mail and include your name, address and ebay ID. Thank you

Make sure you do it through ebay and only use paypal. Make sure he is not the prince of kenya or something.

Thats a scam.

I have been bidding on a lot of stuff and buying a lot of parts of ebay for another mountain bike and I was getting like 3 of these worded exactly the same every time a day. Same exact wording as yours. Look who the email is from and look at all the addresses. That message does not come from ebay.

The person who won it probably won it, and bought it and has it in his possession. This guy is scamming you.

Pursue this only if you want your identity stolen. Complete and total scam.

I got a really similar e-mail a few months ago about a different bike I was bidding on. Contacted the seller, and it turned out to be a scam.

My ebay messages get forwarded to my email as well, so that part is not so weird, but as someone else mentioned, the second chance offer feature is a part of ebay itself and the messages dont look like that at all

This is why ebay integrated the second chance offer into their site. one of the few buyer protection moves they've made.

Too bad scammers also used this as a second chance to scam people.

If you're not seeing an *identical* message in your "my ebay" it's not a legit second chance offer. Even if it is you could still get taken, and judging by the way that message is worded it has scam written all over it.

It's worth noting though that sellers can make legit second chance offers through ebay if they're selling more than one of an item. This is how I got my hands on a NOS Suntour XC seatpost. The seller apparently had a few of them. I was the second highest bidder and was sent a second chance offer. I accepted it and got my post for a buck or so less than the winning bid.

The XXXX@XXXXXX.com? Those X's hide letters, unless you see other letters. If that's the case, I don't care, just don't spam me.

No, if you mouse-over the link you can see it in your status bar. You changed the link text but not the link itself. Edit that.

Ive had a few of those. They usually request payment through Western Union, not Pay Pal. Ban his ass!

The other clue is that if you look at the bid history, you'll see a stinkload of bidders who exceeded your $15 bid, so you're unlikely to be next in line.

To follow up on this, I went and checked the sellers and buyers bid history. Buyer had nothing. Seller had this:

Refund was given for dented frame-Still questioning how dent was over looked.
NEW FETISH ROAD BIKE FRAME! COOL! (#150214367705)

Kind of sounds like it was actually the original seller that wasn't on the up and up, not just a random scammer.
