I know the Bike Kitchen up at UBC rents bikes. They might have some OK road bikes in their stable. There are also a bunch of shops near Stanley Park, but mostly cruisers from what I have seen. I am sure there are other places too.

I don't know of a single shop that rents out fixed gears for the street. If you need a mid range road bike, there's a place called Reckless which is a bit dodgy but you'll find a bike there. Just make sure to check it over before you're ready to sign.

fixed gear shop vancouver
I don't think they rent out fixies - though you never know, they are the friendliest shop i've ever been in so maybe? But check out
Jett Grrl Bike Studio (www.jettgrrl.com)
on Union St. just East of Main St. If you are looking for a fixed gear bike, they carry a bunch of brands - Soma, IRO, Traitor - with basic builds or all the fancy Deep-V colored wheels and high end parts! The owner is an amazing mechanic and so helpful and down to earth. I bought a custom IRO Mark V there last year and can't say enough good things!
