Converting a broken Supercycle into SS
I got an 80s supercycle for free, but a friend of mine broke the deraileur(SP?). This has always been my bike for my friends to ride when they were over, and the rest of my friends were going on a ride. I still need this bike for my friends to ride when they are over.
How easy is the conversion to single speed? Can I just keep the crankset, and just use the bigger ring permanently, and then just slap a single speed wheel on, and take a few links out of my chain, and then be set? It has some-what horizontal dropouts.
What else do I need to know? I really know, absolutely ZERO about bikes, I usually just make an effort not to break them, but unfortunately my friends don't respect my bikes.
Any info about possible problems I will run into, or easy ways to things, are welcomed.
