Hinged Brake Levers?

Anyone using a hinged brake lever? I feel like this would be the ideal lazy mans way of putting on and taking off a brake so I don't have to keep re-wrapping my bars.

My wife has a red Goldfinger on her bike. Hinged is the way to go IMO.

It's not lazy, its smart and progressive. I don't understand why they aren't used more.

Agreed, they are the only way to go for those of us who change our bars as often as our shoes.

Why not cheap cross-style lever?

Don't they have internal routing? Which would mean that when I take my brake off I would be leaving the cable hanging.

If I run a hinged with a caliper on the front... its a screw and a bolt and im brakeless.

You can run them as a stand-alone lever. I'm not sure what you mean by the internal routing thing.

Wouldn't a CX lever either mount on the end of bullbars (like a TT lever) or work like a Brifter? Which would mean internal routing? or at least... under the bar tape routing?

I could be way off here... I haven't eatin anything all day because Im waiting to see what the next ss/fg food item of the day is gonna be so I can have a craving.

I don't get it, mayube I am not understanding. I have a cross lever mounted right next to my stem. brake cable comes directly from front brake, makes a little curve, and goes right into the lever. The lever clamps around the bar and is secured with a hex bolt. A couple allen key turns and it unclamps. Release the cable from the brake and Volla! you have a brake less bike. Want to switch bars, just unclamp the cross-lever, replace bars, re-clamp.

No, this is wrong. You don't have to remove the tape, as the cable doesn't go under the tape. Do I need to post my double-lever setup again?

Yea, with a cx lever you shouldn't need to run it any special way. Just straight off the front brake into the lever. You can actually take off the lever and brake and they stay together in on easy to reinstall package. I took mine off today (road grime had to clean it) and it took about 2 minutes to remove/reinstall.

They make 2 sizes (I think) mine is a 25.4 with a shim for 22.2 (again I think!) w/o the shim I can run it right up against the stem on my flat bar, w/ the shim I can run it on the bend of my risers. It was around 25 bucks and I really like it.

I got you guys on the CX levers... I just went to look up some pics. I always thought that CX levers were internally routed.

Also... that goldfinger is so sweet but I have 26.0's. Anyone know if thats an issue... I mean... I know its hinged but still is it one of those things where it has to come together for the screws to fit in properly?

Yeah... I was saying... since they list it for like a 25.6 or something (BMX) it obviously "doesn't fit". But since the thing is hinged will it "ghetto fit"?

I'm going to say yes, I think I might have even tried it on my profile bullhorns before I sold them. But my son is a week old so I really don't remember anything clearly.
