Old Skool Track

Oldskooltrack.com was one of the first websites I ever came across when I started research into track bikes. It had a wealth of knowledge that, aside from Sheldon's site, is unparalleled on the net. From there i learned to trackstand, skid, skip and deal with traffic. I also learned the correct aestetics for both myself and my bike (back when fixies were dirty and beat up because people used them for more than tricks on saturday afternoons).

I recently discovered that it hasn't been updated in close to two years. And I remember that the frequency of updates was dropping for several years before the last was made. It is a shock to look back and see such a basic layout and web design as was common in the early 2000's. Luckily it is still online as a resource (similar to the defunct 63xc.com), but it is sad to see one's old friends begin to slowly die off (and don't doubt that because of my job in the Government Documents department of a library I probably spent more time with these internet sites than I did with my human friends). Akin to the transition that has occured in the last several years on bikeforums, the sites (and people) that I looked to in my development are moving on or fading away.

Maybe this is some kind of hint or something about the way I'm living my life.

But I doubt that.

i've only graced this site in passing, but re-reading it is pretty rad. thanks.

I'll have to clarify something. Most of the bikes on old skool track are super clean. The bikes that are dirty can be found at the Bike Cult archives
