nope, ISIS bb/crank. I have an '07 and am looking to replace my buggered crank and bb as well. I tried here before but never got a solid answer.

Aren't square taper bb's like nineteen dollars? Convert a twenty into some change and you're good to go.

BRANDUNE 03-17-08 01:15 PM

well, I reckon all ya need is a square taper BB that and some square taper cranks to match and you'd be good to go

frankstoneline 03-17-08 01:33 PM

Your bottom bracket is english. You will need a square taper bottom bracket and some cranks to match.

I replaced the BB on my 07 pista with this one:

http://www.benscycle.net/index.php?m...th=188_247_680

Its good and all, but something is squeaking. Not sure if it is my cranks interface with BB. Or maybe the BB's interface with the frame. Or maybe just the BB itself. No big problem, just annoying.

i guess i can take my bike apart to see what size it is but currently not at home. just curious what size did you get? thanks

baxtefer 03-17-08 01:55 PM

that depends on what cranks you decide to replace yours with

barba 03-17-08 01:57 PM

The size and style of the bottom bracket depends on the crank you want to use. Pick that first and then get the appropriate bottom bracket. Are you having some sort of problem with the ISIS crank?

NeilMonday 03-17-08 01:58 PM

its gonna depend on what cranks you get. Each crank has its own spindle length to achieve 42mm chainline.

This page should help get you on your way. http://www.sheldonbrown.com/bbsize.html

Choose what cranks you want. Then find your cranks on sheldon's page, then make your decision on size. I chose the 107mm.

Yup! You can do it. I'm looking to do the same thing soon, as the stock spindle on my Pista is bent.

The frame takes English cups. The spindle length depends on the cranks you plan to use, since you'll have to chage your ISIS cranks too . Just follow the crank manufacturer's recomendations in regard to spindle length.

What crank are you planning on upgrading to? Keep in mind that not all square tapers are not the same. Most cranks, such as Shimano use a JIS taper. However some cranks, such as Campagnollo and Sugino 75 track cranks, use an ISO taper. Although an ISO crank can be forced to "fit" a JIS bottom bracket, it will distort the interface and may fail. Just something to think about.

i already have the cranks sorted out. i just need to find a right size square taper BB.

i have sugino RD 165 cranks

Use the Sheldon Brown link that Neil posted above. All the info you need should be there. If you're unsure, I'm sure Harris can help you out if you shoot them an E-mail. The RD cranks are JIS, so you have a lot of economical options.

so it looks like i need a 68x103mm?

barba 03-17-08 02:19 PM

Sugino's 68x103mm bottom bracket will do the trick. There have been reports of a chainline of 45mm with some newer runs of RDs, just for your information. I have them on two bikes and have never had a problem, though.

THANKS FOR THE INFO!!! i'll try to source one locally.

This might be of use to you: When I switched to a Dura Ace cog, It threw my chain line off a bit. I had to use bottom bracket spacers to move my bottom bracket out about 1.5 mm. So if you are planning on swapping the stock cog out, I suggest you do it before you buy a bottom bracket; so you can measure the rear chainline and select a bottom bracket accordingly. I have a 2007 Pista.
