So, every so often when I feel like it in the morning, I bike to school instead of riding the bus (it's actually faster, but I don't always enjoy getting to school sweaty that early in the morning). I roll up my pants and generally wear a cycling cap.
I dress how I dress for function over form.

srsly, the next time I hear "My cotton t-shirt, rolled up dickies, messenger bag, exposed keys and cycling cap are FUNCTIONAL!!!" I'm going to strangle the utterer with a used chamois. Yeah, functionally ********. Cycling clothes are the ultimate function over form, as they look like complete ass but really do keep you comfortable while riding. I guess messenger bags are good at creating an unevenly distributed load on your body, but make no sense for carrying anything that you don't ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO be able to get a hold of one-handed while leaping off your bike or doing some other awesome messenger(ish) move.
And yes, they're wearing those stupid little hats because they want to look just like you. Feel proud that you've passed on an utterly ridiculous fashion trend...

I like to wear cycling caps, and Manpris, and striped knee-high socks, and cycling shoes. they look ludicrous and silly, and I'm all for ludicrous fashion trends. If anyone else wants to copy me and look like a total dork too, more power to them. If someone I don't like very much starts dressing like a bike nerd, I might just start to like them more. They can't be all bad if they like to wear stupid looking caps.

Actually, you got it all wrong. I was the first person to start riding a fixed gear up at jmu. Someone from Tech saw me and ran back to blacksburg to tell his friends how cool I looked. There was mass defecation of public transportation and suddenly hipsters sprang from the soil of the drill field. Somewhere in that whilrwind of track stands you decided to follow the carbon copy of myself.

I thought it was buying copious amounts of panties from Japanese vending machines and hand sewing them into t-shirts.
:|
Can't afford Nippon denim, only levis, when they have defects, riding in them is the most uncomfortable thing int he world.
Portland cyclewear knickers ftw.

basically, cliff burton ruled, cliff burton died, stereotypes were reinforced, stereotypes were debunked, and no one here is any sort of trail blazer, cycling or otherwise.
not the best party i've ever been to, but good times none the less.

i'm surprised this thread is still alive. it had "stupid thread" written all over it. the blue stars must be busy, or lazy.
