everwears vs t-serv vs pasela Tourguards
I blew out a sidewall on a really short trip yesterday. What would you recommend to a clyde commuter that normally runs 28s, some, the occasional skid thrown in for fun, don't care about weight. Care alot about flats. would prefer all black.

If you are concerned about flats, look into conti gator skins or armadillos.

Not sure but these all may all actually be the same tires made by Panaracer. I think the T-servs are just black walled Paselas. I thought the Soma ones were branded Panaracers also.

hate flats and don't care about weight? Try the Schwalbe Marathon Plus.
if you want something lighter, I'm enjoying my Bontrager hardcases

i weigh just under 200 lbs & i used to get more flats than anyone i've ever met. one sunday on an 18 mile ride i got 3 flats! 3 in 18 miles! a pinch flat in the rear, then a piece of glass up front... then just before my ride ended, yet another piece of glass, in the rear.
then i bought my first pair of armadillos... not the "elite" ones for weight weenies (yes, they look nicer but they're not as durable). I got the ones with the ugly kevlar sidewalls.... they're not all black but, i have not have a flat since i bought them seven months ago. i LOVE them.

the 700x28C racelite hardcases are 350g.
Do you meant the marathon plus are 740g? because that sounds about right.

So by switching to hardcase 28s I'd be losing almost 800 grams for the same tire size. I'm no weight weenie, but wowzers.

I don't have any experience with the everwears, but have used T-servs and Panaracer Tourguards.
The tourguard and the t-serv are almost the same tire. The T-serv has a lower TPI sidewall (for toughness)? The ride is slightly rougher and the sidewalls are decently tough. Flat protection is decent... but gatorskins and Armidillos are more flat resistant. The T-serv feels faster than gatorskins/armidillos and it rides better. I've used gatorskins, armidillos, and T-servs, and I prefer the T-servs for everyday riding.
The Tourguard is similar to the T-serv in every respect except the sidewalls are weaker and it rides slightly better.

huh, I like both the T-Serv and Gatorskin, but I think the latter are faster.
