Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Nashbar Bullhorns in a Nitto Jaguar?

I just bought a pair of Nashbar bullhorns and while I do have a 26.0 stem that I plan on using these with, I was wondering if they can fit in a Jag stem. Anyone?

Thanks

You can pry the stem open with a screwdriver and wiggle your bars in there. Lots of people are going to tell you that this will result in certain death, but we're talking about a .6 mm difference, so you'll be fine.

I understand that the bullhorns are 26.0 and the jag is 25.4. I plan on sanding down a bit of the clamp area on the horns. What I was wondering is if the stem could fit past the folded corners.

Don't do that. You think they make the tubing thicker than it needs to be? That'd be a waste of resources (and money) and a disservice to you. Just clamp it in there like bonechilling said. That technique should get you around the corners as well.

buy a new stem. a deep drop stem with drop bullhorns isn't going to be comfortable anyway

theres nothing special about a nitto jaguar that makes it harder to get bars through them than any other stem. he was probably doing it wrong
