Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Yeah that bicycle looks very home-made. I remember that the Chinese tall guy got this cool Giant bike purpose built for him. I feel for this guy, he has it hard, his house is too small for him, and he's got healthy problems, but look at the smile on his face when he rides this bicycle.

+1 gold, I wish more would (re)discover this.

Good for this guy, that must be a really weird situation to have to live in/through.

You know just last night at the bike coop I sold a bike to a guy who has similar problems though not quite as extreme. He was really tall, and got laid off because he had ruined knees. He's had both knees replaced and been transporting himself 10 or fifteen miles to the next town on a bicycle that is way too small. He's got 16EEE feet. I fixed him up with a 62cm Raleigh Technium, and with a fistful of seatpost he could get both feet flat on the ground from the seat. I had to rummage around for a longer post, and some platform pedals. It felt really good to be able to fix him up with a bike that came close to fitting him at a very low cost. I just wish I could find a wicked tall stem for him as the seat is WAY above the bars.

I'm 6'4 and I met Shaq. He doesn't seem like the same species, he's so big. He could rest an elbow on my shoulder.

Do you have any pictures? The only hits for "shaq bike" on Google are for his motorcycles.
