It's a road geometry with track dropouts. Slightly steeper 74* head tube angle, 74.5* with a standard road type 45mm rake. Seems like it might handle like a triathlon bike more than a track bike. Just speculatin' is all, never seen or tried one before. Price is not too bad though. 1 1/8" head tube and bottle mount bosses are a nice touch as well.

One other bonus is Performance's perpetual "sales" (MSRP=$499 but we're selling at 50%off!!!...LOL). You might strike a nice deal on this one. Just keep an eye out for the free shipping+20% off combos.

Looks a bit bleh though...

I have no objections to road geometry, but the fork is $199 and back ordered until 02/01/08. No specs on axle to crown or rake for the fork either.

Yeah, it doesn't seem so bad. But then I remember that a complete Kilo TT is about the same price, and this becomes harder to swallow.

I'm not sure what niche Performance is trying to fill with that frame that hasn't already been served by '80s 10-speed conversion frames. They need to just make a full on tarck frame like Alien, BD, etc.

i saw this today also in the performance catalog that came to my house. the frame itself looks decent, but as stated earlier the fork for the frame makes it a total joke. $199 come on!

Other than the geo it reminds me of the steamroller. The steamroller fork would be great with this frame. The dropouts especially remind me of the steamroller.

These dropouts appear to have some cool built-in chain tensioners.

The logo decals are easily removeable, which is a plus. Who wants to ride a "Scattante"?

Scattante is Italian for 'flying off'.

Seems like a winnar!

Its probably a decent road fg/ss frame but its overpriced for generic 4130 when you consider what else is available. The price of the fork is a complete joke. Perhaps the fork price will lower when its back in stock.
Last year I bought a Taiwanese Scattante XRL road frame (https://www.performancebike.com/shop/...tegory_ID=3020) that I like a lot, but it cost $250 for the frame and fork. If Performance could offer the frame and fork for $250 or so, then it would be worth considering.

Sick drop outs, but I would never ride anything that is called SCAT-something or rather.

Plus the 58cm frame is 2050 grams or 4.5 pounds, aka the heaviest hardtail frame I've ever heard of.

Your feeble attempt at mockery is anemic.

Of the billions of combinations of phonetic possiblities, they had to pick the name that is (1) faux-Italian yet made in Taiwan, (2) reminiscent of poop and (3) making you look silly for defending.

Your wrong. The surly Steamroller 56cm is also 4.5 pounds. Some claims the Rush is 4 pounds, but they don't specify size, so I imagine 4 pounds for the smaller sizes and closer to 4.5 for larger sizes. The IRO Mark V 56cm is 4.3 pounds. The weight of the Scattente frame seems pretty typical for frames of similar quality.

I got one, I like it... Mine happens to fit me perfectly.

Removing the decals as soon as I get around to it...
FWIW, I peeled up the corner of one letter sticker and it does not leave a sticky residue behind.

Thanks... My fork is the "Scattante SSR" fork. Heavy fork but looks good. Might switch to carbon later tho.

Shot: So does your bike indeed handle like a road frame? Seems like it should from the numbers. How quick is the handling and how do you like it for long distance rides?
