Question on Viscount cranks:
Anybody know if they will work with a standard square taper BB? I kinda like the look of the chainring, and it's cheap too. Just not sure if they will work.
The other possible problem is that they are 172.5's. Tool long for a conversion?

They are a bit long and may not be strong enough with the inner chainring removed. Also, the inner chainring usually lines up better with the cog on a conversion and you can't remove the outside one on that crankset (obviously). I like the looks of that chainring too, send 'em to me if you don't end up using them.

Put the grinder down.
A little bicycle history, those are French TA Specialties licensed crank arms with custom Viscount/Lambert fabricated chainrings. They belong to a mid-70's Viscount Aerospace frame. They do have some collector value, are somewhat underrated, obscure, and high quality.
My thought is don't bother putting them on a cheap conversion. They should go back on a Viscount or something appropriate to the era.
If that doesn't convince you to leave them be, you need a special 23.15 mm TA crank puller to remove them.

Haha, I should forward that info to the guy selling them for $20.
