Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

3-Speed Hub

A few times over the past few weeks, I've been Riding ~20km. On my 700C three speed bike. It's been blowing me Away every time i ride it, It's geared for 73 inches in Direct drive which is about 10 Less than my fixed gear so i can Spin it up In an instant once spun up. Top gear is about 97 inches, which i have to Push. Slowly working it up without mashing, working at it until i'm spinging away. I find it very annoying that This 25+ pound franken-bike of a Club bike i cobbled together from spares can cruise a good ~5km/h faster than my tack bike, Guess it's time to gear up 52/16 here i come.
