Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What's your favorite clipless pedal

So, today I'm 15 miles out of town when the spindle of my Crank Bros. Eggbeater pedal snaps. This is the second time in three years I've had an eggbeater break, so I'm in the market for something different. What do you like - any style, any bolt pattern.

This has been discussed ad nauseum. Get Time ATACs - they're the Phil Wood of pedals, you buy them and forget about them for years as you bash and abuse them in every conceivable way and they keep going.

SPD all the way.
Never tried atacs but if they're like eggbeaters, stay away. Also stay away from the phil wood of anything.

Yeah, the above is my personal, minority opinion.

I roll ATACs, and I've got to rofl at this... They are pedals. They will not keep you from getting the herp. SPDs are good, Speedplays, whatever else.

I know a ton of folks who swear by CB's, maybe the OP just got a bad batch... twice.

Which eggbeaters did/do you have? I have the SLs and have put a good amount of miles on them in 6 months, they went through winter here too - no dramas. Maybe you need a better quality one?

The other non-CB pedals I have are the Forte Campus SPD/platform pedals, which are great for a budget flip-flop, but not all too great I guess. Eggbeaters still get my vote sorry.

I have only used cheapish SPDs and they are fine.

my sweetheart broke a set of eggbeaters with ti cleats. didn't have a receipt cause they were a prize, but we sent 'em back to Crank Bros, and within three days, they fixed them and mailed them back to us.

so that's rad.

i ride Time ATACs and Aliums and love 'em.
