Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Non brooks saddle recommendations

Title says it all. Who has saddle recommendations with comfort and budget factored into said recommendation?

I've heard that "SEARCH" is a good brand!!!

No really I like Fizik Airone. Light comfy and sort of cheap.

they're heavy and ugly and overpriced and archaic and made of nasty dried out skin.

OP, try the selle san marco rever k. i ride mine on my tark bike and love it. i've sit in it for 80 mile days with no problems. light, too.
feels good with or without chamois.
the rever (minus the k) is nice too, but a bit stiffer (slightly less padding). i own it, but haven't spent more than maybe twenty miles on it so can't really say how it goes for the long haul.
the most time i've spent on the rever k was a weekend doing the ms150; roughly 75 miles saturday, 75 miles the next day.
worked great.

Selle San Marco Concor light.
I got one when I bought my frame from a member on here, I think it's gloriously comfy, though it's fairly broken in after my near daily use and it's previous owners use. I havent ridden much else, so I dont have a lot of experience, but I havent felt a need to. I kind of want to invest in a Soma saddle for my road bike, they seem inexpensive and look nice, anyone have any experience with them?

I really like this guy:

http://www.performancebike.com/shop/....cfm?SKU=20853

It's not particularly sexy, but it's super light and comfy. The non-ti version is quite cheap and there are always performance coupons around.

I have 2 Specialized Toupes, non-gel kind. Love them.

Also have a Performance SLX saddle, similar shape, more padding. Not bad at all for $40.

Selle San Marco Ponza. I have them on each of my bikes. They are fantastic.

Or you could try Terry Saddles. I hear those are really good.

The Toupes are tops - I have one on my road bike, and it's awesome. Not cheap though. I also have an Specialized Alias that's pretty awesome, and a cheapo Cannondale-rebranded flite that I like a lot.

I vote for a Brooks B-17, it's the most comfortable bike saddle I've ever been on, and it only gets better

I got one but it hurt my tailbone so bad I had to switch to my crappy vinyl seat from my crappy 10 speed. It did look cool though.

It hurt your tailbone? I think you might have been doing it wrong.

I love my Brooks, but I tried an old Selle Italia XO the other day and was great as soon as I got on the bike.

Only problem with it is that it is Bright Yellow, but you can get it in black

I hear good things about fizik arione. try ebay or craigslist and you'll def score a good deal. If I could get a brand new Brooks Ti Swift for $150, you could get a arione for around $50-60
