i threw a set of double straps on my pedalls teh other day and my front strap keep slipping down towards my to. what do you guys use to hold your strap together? im not fond of the 4 gate clips so none of those.. lets see some pictures and sugestions. im thinking the sewing machines gonna have to come out.

no im positive there on right it was just my shoes i threw on some vans lows and they were fine i do still need to make some sort of doubler though. maybe a version of the one bionnaki sent. maybe not so bondage looking though

ahh leather belt perfect ! good call. Ya ive done the clipless thing i switch back and forth periodicly (sp) Im looking at the MKS peddals that have the quick release fitting on them. i saw some the other day they look prettttty nice. The pedals them sefl look pretty wide though any one have any experience?

I just kinda like the feel of the leather around the upper of my foot rather than feeling the actuall clips running down the top of my foot. kinda feels the same way with the cheap plastic MTB clips that have the plastic thing that run parallel to each other up your foot...Im sure i described that horribley but if you come home from work real tired like i am now and use your imagination you might understand what im saying.

Indeed I understand what you mean... I LOVE the feeling of the clip running down the top of my foot, though. To each his/her own.

And the spelling is "periodically". I understand. You were tired, and crazy things happen when you're tired.

Does this look right? It's my first attempt at putting pedals, clips and doublestraps together. I used clipless before. Does anybody see something I did wrong? Like maybe buckles pointing the wrong direction or something... (BTW:I tucked the extra strap length into the pedals). Seems to feel fine.







This is: MKS Sylvan touring pedals (I have wide feet), MKS XL clips, Dimension doubles.

Seriously, people are suggesting this guy puts doublizers on double straps??

There are lots of ways to lace up doubles, some giving you more or less hold, some being easier and harder to get out of.

Here's how I have mine. They don't slip and the hold great.

yours ^ look exactly like mine (except your straps look better quality). so i figure i did it right. I would prefer the straps not get hung up on my shoes as i put them in, but maybe i need vans or no-lace converses for that...

Laced differently, yes, but it looks as though his straps are at least passed through the buckles correctly. HOWEVER, if I'm not mistaken, it's best not to have them tucked into the pedals, for ease of tightening/loosening.

How easy do you find it to adjust yours with your straps tucked into the buckles? I've got Toshi doubles too, and I just have mine just passed through the serrated edge, no tuck. That way I just pull up on the straps to tighten, and flick the buckles outward with my palms to loosen enough to get my foot out. I would imagine it would be a bit more troublesome to have to pull down on the straps to tighten, but I don't actually know..

I can't looosen or tighten with one hand because the serated edge won't let it budge. So I believe I don't have the straps threaded the best way. I just sort of set them semi-tight and rode around on them that way (not adjusting). I'm gonna try threading it differently until I get it right. Tucking it into the pedal will be solved by just cutting the excess off once I get it all sorted.

Yeah, looking at it now, I understand why it won't work that way. If you don't tuck it into the bottom of the buckles, you can easily tighten them with one hand, because when you pull up, the serration doesn't hinder the movement of the strap, as you're pulling near-parallel to the edge, but when you let go of the strap, the edge digs in and prevents the strap from slipping. Whereas when you tuck it in, it faces down by default, and you're pulling it deeper into the serrated edge.

To test it for yourself, just try yanking one of the straps out of the bottom of the buckle, and pull the strap upwards. It should tighten down with almost no resistance. Then, loosen the straps and try pulling down instead. It won't budge. To loosen with one hand I just swat my hand down and away, like I was shooing away a small dog trying to hump my leg. Easy-peasy.

I rethreaded it so that the stap only passes through the serated edge (no re-tucking at all) and it does exactly what you say... Its easy to pull up and tighten and easy to loosen by pressing that serated part. The only thing is now it looks wrong. It's looks free to flap in the wind and does not look buckled and tidy like the straps in the above post. I'll just live with it being in one position until I get new ones with a buckle that works better (like on some toshis).

My buckles are not the same as those above ^ .

Well, it's form or function on this one. I agree, it looks neater tucked, but this is the only method I know of that allows you to adjust your straps on-the-fly. It looks wrong but it works right. Take it or leave it.

Yea, it also depends on your shoes (how easily they slip into the pedal/strap combo) and how tight you like your straps, but I'm afraid a lot of people tuck them in (the buckle, not the pedal...that's just whack) mostly for the tidy look.

Seeing tucked in straps with buttons puzzles me; can't use them to tighten the straps and can't even un-tuck the straps from the buckle without taking the buttons off.
