I'm starting a project, first one, and I was just wondering about the dropouts as I'm a bit unsure whats best for fixed gear. Picture of the bike attached, I'm going to leave it as original as I can, with bullhorned downbars, probably no brake (leisure bike, I do ride with a brake otherwise). I did as anyone would and checked out Sheldon's page on the topic but still looking for any suggests on the actual frame as a fixie.

A closer pic would help. Looks like very short semi horizonal dropouts? Brakes are always a good idea, though.

I actually don't have the bike yet, thats why I'm asking incase anyone can see or know more then I can. A brake is never a bad idea either, useful for helping keep balance at lights too. See what happens...

It doesn't look like there's a lot of room in those drop outs.You might have to prepare yourself for some halflink action.

What it comes down to, is does the frame fit, is the price right, and do you like it? If so, then a conversion is possible.

the frame is a bit big, 58, I currently use a 56, 32 inseam, 5"8 5"9. Probably better off waiting for something that's a better fit. Tough call, I like the frame and where I live it's hard to find one you like thats for sale. Price is $300 Canadian.

A 58 is way to big given your height. Wave goodbye and continue the search.

I'm 5'11" and I usually ride a 56 for "performance" (and fixie) riding but a 58 for touring and general long distance riding. Anything larger than that is too big for me. This Bianchi would probably make a poor candidate for a fixed conversion. It would be worth more left alone as a geared bike in my opinion.
