Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

newb question

sorry im new to the whole fixed gear world, my passion has always been the motorized version, but this should keep me in shape, im building my first one now and trying to pick out a frame and all the parts. I actually have two questions>

1. why do a lot of the bikes i see that are fixies have a mag
wheel up front and a spoked in the back? is there a reason, what does everyone recommend?

2. there is a local here selling a KHS gran sport frame with forks and headset, he s wanting 120 for it and another Bianchi Trofeo for 100, which is the better deal all things being equal?
