Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Fixed/SS Project to begin

Today I found a very affordable 63cm Fuji frame destined to become a Fixed/Free w/flip-flop hub. Thanks to William Karsten I stopped by a local LBS that specializes in old stuff aka JUNK. The plan will be to chop off all the unnecessary cable guides, shifter boses, derailler bracket and such. I will then attempt to paint it without getting too ugly. I will follow this up with some nice decals which may be of a fine Italian bike. Which should it be, Gios, Colnago, De Rosa or ? Wish me luck.

it should be a fuji since it is one. please don't label it as another bike frame. that is so lame. what is the point of trying to fake another brand of bike? the only people you'll trick are people who don't care about bikes. why don't you just paint it and give it your own brand rather than faking another. that's like wearing clothes only because it has a name brand on it.

You have some very valid points. I haven't completely decided what I will do with it but thought it would be a neat idea.

It's kinda like throwing a Mercedes badge on an old Chevette that you fix up.

Put whatever stickers you want on the thing. I'd always wanted to put Colnago stickers on a Huffy myself.

Hasn't than already been done [the Huffy stickers]?

I once saw a fixie covered in Lone Star beer stickers. Now that was classy

Yeah, paint your name on the top tube or something. That would be neat.

Light it on fire and clearcoat the scorch marks for a "Real" flamed look...wait, maybe I'll do that to the Fuji frame I'm making fixed.

Yes it was, he has a really nice De Rosa that was recently powder coated blue but done a bit tacky. It was likely a 64cm and partialy built, they wanted around $150. I think there were a couple other frames around 62cm or a little smaller.

Come on have a little fun, can't we all dream for once. I have another idea where I may make it showing Navy pride. This would be a deep blue w/gold lettering.

How elitist of you.
I think it is pretty pathetic when someone takes a great hardcore symbol, removes the X and replaces it with a cog.

Now here.
Very unoriginal. Let me ask you a question: do you own a messenger bag?

You guys take stickers way too f**kin' seriously.

Put whatever stickers you want on the thing, if only to spite all the tight ass posers around here.

Hey, I'm just kidding, too.

Well, sort of. Anyone that worried over other people's stickers is pretty close to poser status (and preserving the integrity of such status).

It has to do with what was said to Dorf411 about putting non-MFR based decals/stickers on a frame; by you, by whoever. Same thing applies to a messenger bag: by its title, only messengers should use them. I know there are NO crews in Co SPRNGS (Denver is the closest). Hence, you having a messenger bag is just as wrong as Dorf411 wanting to put Masi/Ciocc/Pogliaghi decals on a ****ing Sears frame; this is based on your original comments in this thread. (note: I don't care either way, just making a point). A bit hypocritical.
