Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

lock for larger tubing bikes??

i was just wondering what you guys use for your larger tubing (aluminum: concepts, vigorellis, etc..) to lock up with. i am looking for a u-lock and was really curious if the kryptonite mini works when locking to a regular street sign pole or parking meter. i was trying to measure based on the sizes given on the kryptonite site and it seems like it would be a very tight fit but was seeing if anyone had any first hand experience. if you have any suggestions on a u-lock that fits well please help me out. thanks a lot!

Personally I prefer full size U-locks due to the many more places I can lock up with them. Also, street signs often just pull up right out of the ground. A mini might be good if you know exactly what you are locking up to, but if you aren't sure, and ride to many different places, go with a full sized lock.

I lock my ftp up with a mini right over the top tube. It's obviously not very safe for the wheels but with a ftp I'm not leaving the bike outside for more than an hour anyhow. This is in the city where I lock up to well-planted street signs or bike posts.

In the much more quaint suburbs I freelock if I'm running into the wawa or something, sometimes I don't even lock. For being away from the bike for 2 minutes it's just not a problem out here.
