So I Can't Skid With Track Drops...
I'm probably the only person experiencing this but I started off with bullhorns, which of course "makes everything easier", been riding for a week. Learned howto skid with 'em the first day. Switched up the bars to some track drops and I am no longer able to skid.
Maybe once in awhile, but I find myself on the ground laying on my back or scraping my elbow for the most part. Is it my technique with the bullhorns that affected it? (flat versus drops in the way of my legs)

I dunno how you're trying.
But just grab the bars wide with your palms facing out and just go for it.
Definitely takes a little more practice than with bullhorns, but it's not impossible.

Get out over the stem. Nuts to the stem, with as much weight off the back wheel as possible without going over.
Bullhorns or drops, get stretched.

I find my knees hitting the drops than myself wobbling over and falling.
Is it because of my locking position? Or how far I am leaned over the stem?

try more *umph*. I found that leaning forward helps initiate the skid, but does shyat for actually stopping you quickly. Lately I've just been setting my weight just in front of the saddle and pulling like a mofo to actually backpedal for a bit before skipping and repeating . The bullhorns were unweighting the rear too much, making it easy on your legs.

ride as fast as you can towards a cab, a homeless person or a flock of pigeons. once you are a couple feet away, try to skid. i bet you'll figure it out really quick. that's what i did.

Hopefully hitting my legs on the drops, wobbling, and falling over will be minimal.
I tried riding again, I think it's because I'm not locking up properly? That my leg gets pushed forward, hits the handlebars and make me fall over.

Quick question,
im not trying to skid 300 ft so would leaning over that much be necessary?
also, do you guys bring your legs inward, towards the stem as close as possible? kind of like hugging it with your thighs?
i was able to skid today, but i dont know if it's the "correct" way.

You get so much more leverage with the bullhorns. Like mentioned before, hold the shoulders.
The best way to practice is pump your rear up pretty good, head out IMMEDIATELY after a storm/shower, and try to wet pavement.

OK, here it goes, whats the reason for skidding besides it being fun? Do you guys go for the longest skid? are there prizes? or is it just held over from when you were a kid? or is it all of the above?

Wedging your body on the bars? Tucking your hips under the stem? Leaning on your hands? Locking your leg straight?
Jeez...
Just unweight your back wheel and flex your legs. You should be able to do most of it with your legs and very little weight transfer.
Also, what gear ration are you running? That has a lot to do with it?
