Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Hey anyone here use the underpasses on Comm Ave? They look like fun...and suicide.

lol i always zip by the underpasses, but it just seems like a bad idea for some reason... probably will have to try it, at least on one of my midnight rides haha.

i used to take the underpasses all the time. it's no big deal, cars don't mind any more than usual, you are allowed to be there.

You guys do mean the Comm Ave "underpass" right? Correct me if I'm wrong, but where it crosses Mass Ave is the only one that I know of.

The Comm Ave underpass is sketchy. When it's busy you have to be careful with that right lane merge coming back up to street level.

Every year I go down to the fire works on the forth and we camp out on the Fairview footbridge side of the river and i always wonder why I never see any polo matches or sprints or anything on Storrow Drive. I mean they have it closed down all day (granted a few cops and such drive down but I play wiffle ball down there too. i think getting a game together next year would be awesome. Or even a race or something.

None of the underpasses are that sketchy compared to the rotaries and heading up to rt 106 northbound to go to Gloucester.

City riding in Boston is pretty tame when you get used to it.

Take the train to Lynn, then 1a to 129 North. That part's a nice ride. Everything between Cambridge and Lynn sucks teh ballzorz. 1a from Lynn to Newburyport's awesome too.
