Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

My first fixed geared bikes were schwinns. I loved them. But i didn't realize how heavy they were because I had nothing to compare to. Now when I lift up a schwinn I laugh. Get any other old roadbike frame and you'll be better off. Weight means so much.

$100 is on the expensive side. Depending on your location, I've seen them being sold for half the cost of that. I bought my complete continental for $40.

I commute with a fixed continental and I don't care if it's heavy. Gives me a better workout.
