Removed the rear brake. Kept the aero lever, though. Connected the lever to a bell. Now, instead of a rear brake, I have a brake lever actuated bell.
Two zip ties. One electrical connector thingy. One bell.
Mounted the bell on my threaded to threadless adapter.

Sorry for the cheap image quality and the messy garage. BTW, I hope you understand that as soon as I put on the basket, I just had to install a bell.
Basically, if you have normal aero levers, you cut the housing to about 1" past bar on the stem. Mount the bell on stem. I'm not sure where you would put it if you have a threadless fork.
You need one of these which you will crimp to the end of the brake cable. Then use zip ties to go around the lever of the bell.
I use a better quality bell and Tektro Road levers. The tektro levers have good return springs.
And finally, when your bell is actuated by your brake lever, you tend to ring it a lot more.

Bicycle Repair Man !!!
I did think of this a while back... I love it.
I need to do the same thing to my fixed folder as it also has a dummy lever.

There is a huge very melodic bell I'm gonna use for this. Thanks for the pics.
Hey Sixty Fiver, where'd you get that front cable hanger?

I wonder how hard it would be to take that idea a step further and rig up a brake light using one of those little LED taillights...

It'd be funnier and gnarlier if you put the bell in the place where the back brake goes. Like that weird thing that connects your stays.

Brilliant! But knowing me, I'd go for an emergency stop and reach for the lever thinking it's a brake and instead ring a bell before I smash into the fender of a 1982 Cadillac Supreme.

It'd be funny if some one who rode brakeless did this and if his bike ever got stolen the thief would grab the lever and hear the sound of a bell taunting him as he crashes.

Nice idea. I don't see it working too well with the type of bell I have. Mine has the blunt plastic peince on the end of a spring mounted external to the bell.
First one to do this must submit pix... extra points if it is a 82 Caddy Supreme.
