Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

good fairly priced rear wheel?

Looking to build a rear wheel, hoping to get good insight into what hub/rim/spoke setup is pretty tried and true, and of course, somewhat affordable.
Looking to go fixed/fixed on the rear hub.

Thanks for your inpiut.

Formula hub on a DA28 with straight guage DT stainless spokes.

here's the MSRP on the parts

$45 hub
$55 rim
$16/$18 depending on 32h/36h choice for spokes

If you look online you should be able to knock off about 40% max on the listed price. This is a really solid build. Nothing flashy, nothing superlight. But strong and durable.

Thanks... My bike came with the Alex R500's, DT spokes, and Formula hubs with sealed bearings- sort of okay. I want to go pretty nice, pretty light, and black and gold. Just curious about the $200 or less rear wheel build...

I'm new enough not to know everything. I went and checked out the velocity deep V with a nice set of hubs and bladed rims... beautiful, but not a "normal" velocity deep v... and it was $340 for the pair, wouldn't sell them seperately.

I really like the black non machined velocity deep v and just need some good bladed spoke (black) and gold colored hub suggestions, with weight and quality in mind... all for about $200 or less.

This may be a challenge that gets lost in the forums-
