How much do Keirin frames cost in Japan?

Just wondering if anyone knows how Keirin frames like Panasonics and Bridgestone/Anchors sell for in Japan. Used, or new, whatever is available. I'm about to be in a situation where I might be able to fly there for free.

You'd be hard pressed to find anything in a shop for that price now and probably not on Yahoo either. Not that he could buy from there very easily anyway if he's just visiting
In MOST tokyo shops you can expect to pay around 65,000 and up for anything decent. Mostly up.
I think person to person deals are your best bet if you can meet someone selling something.
Otherwise, bring something great to trade.

From what Ive seen in the past week, Punch Cycles is still having the best shop prices and they aint cheap by any means.

Blue Lug will have frames that are in nice shape in the 50,000~65,000 range. usually in smaller sizes. you can roll into a shop and find something pretty easily if you can spend about 70,000. they'll be in great condition too. but I agree with dh that there is definitely an 'up' as well. luck and friends can get you better deals. and yahoo auctions can STILL be good, but not like it used to (I took to trolling the threads there a bit again).

Mixi has been cheap lately, but there are a lot of hurdles for non-Japanese speakers and non-locals.

new Panasonics run 60,000~80,000 or so. new frames by the other keirin builders usually start at least at 120,000 and can get quite a bit higher with options.

are the Panasonics those POS ones? I mean, can you walk into a store and get a new Panasonic frame for that price or do you need to order it? IMO that's really not a bad price.

You cant walk into a shop and get a new Panasonic track frame, unfortunately. Some shops that order them will have display models but usually just one and its not there to be bought. You can ask them order you one, and most shops will charge you around 80,000-85,000. The problem is that, at the moment, the wait time for the frame will be about 6 weeks.
You might could get the shop to post it internationally for you but it would really depend on the shop i guess.
Shipping to the USA and Europe generally runs just over 10,000 now.

So how much are you looking to spend here? And also can you bring it on the airplane with you for free? Or at least cheaper than shipping it?

Regarding taking on the plane for free. A warning.
You gotta do your research on your airline.
Example: Continental Airlines has very low size limits and a frame box exceeds their limit and will net you a $100+ charge.
I have suffered their wrath.

A nice used one shouldnt be hard to get for 60-65,000 if you can come across one in your size for sale.
When are you getting here?
What size you looking for?
