Gave my friend a frame...
And she just went wild with it. It's an old Sekai we just had lying around the shop.

But still waaaay cool. Yes, the crown race got painted over. We're dealing with that. |
if it isn't fixed or ss why does it pertain to this board?
|
Should mods throw an OT on the title then?
I told her she could get away with running it SS in Richmond, but she insisted on gears. |
hell lets stop quibbling about whether or not it belongs here... someone needs to give that girl a job as a frame painter!
|
That's some sick masking and layering work, brah. I wouldn't fret over the crown race too much. Five seconds of masking plus acetone and it's clean.

Seriously, that's a pretty damn awesome paint job. Is this the only frame she's done?
|
very dope.
|
Nice! 60s fun psychedelics before the loss of innocence.
|
That's pretty cool! Is that a rattle can paint job, or ? I'd like to know how she masked the circles so nicely.
|
agreed. the paint job looks pretty clean. richmond? vcu? if so, I might catch a glimpse of the bike being ridden around.
|
It's all rattlecan, except for the lug details, which are actually gold leaf pen stuff. The circles are those little yard-sale stickers, and apparently theres some trick where you curl them up so they stick better and don't peel off.
We just finished spraying on the last coat of clearcoat tonight, assembly begins tomorrow. This is the first frame she's ever done. Her boyfriend is doing a sort of steampunk paint job, but that's not quite done yet. I may ask her to repaint my SE Lager sometime after I settle on a design. And BTW, I convinced her to run SS. Everybody happy? :P |
I saw it! I was unlocking my bike and was like, "this bike looks really familiar..". paint job looks really good up close.
|
I live in Richmond. Is there anyway she could do mine? She did a good job.
|
complete bike pics? - Nice job so far!
|
amazing - very very cool job. makes my recent rattle-can job look like kiddie stuff! after seeing this, I will aspire to do something better next time I paint a frame.
|
That's awesome, you should have her start a frame painting business. I just hope it doesn't get all chipped up!

I think he means it can't be a geared bike, since it don't have gots derailleur hangers.

Some older bikes have a derailleur hanger that is an insert on the dropout. A peugeot mixte I just finished cleaning up and rebuilding has that, and the pictured frame may well be the same peugeot model.

It's singlespeed. With the smallest Q-factor of any bike I've ever ridden.
***** (and all richmond folks), the painter says she can do a few frames, as long as you give her a place to do them. The rattlecan clearcoat is kinda chipping in a few places, I'm thinking we should have done automotive clearcoat if we had the time. |
Wicked.
Let's see some built-up pics when it's finished. |
