The forums are a big place
and I have addressed this a few dozen times

But each name we use has a following
And Motobecane is the biggest of those {lots of customers love the brand}
Motobecane gets lots of magazine write-ups
Next month it is the Fantom Cross Team Ti
I may submit this PRO TRACK for review; why not?

In addition, I have a long term plan though 2023 that invloves Moto

But by the way; I have lots of brands that I have created and some I have even sold and others I have 'rented' to other companies. Biggest of those are Mango and Gravity. Mango outsells in the USA many brands that some would consider 'big'. Gravity we sell lots of; but will increase greatly next year.

So we use all types of brands and names and trademarks. Many like Condor and Gazelle few people see; some like Mercier and Windsor people see all the time.

Next year; we will have a new site that sells nothing but Bottecchia, Gravity, and Windsor.

I like choices {by December there will be 10 SS/FG on our site}
Consumers like choices too, I think

So we will not kill the Dawes SST [steel] to add the Dawes SST AL - nor will we kill the SST AL to add the Moto PRO TRACK and I assure you the PRO TRACK will be the best deal in a pure race track bike available next year {without regards to name on DT}

For the PRO TRACK, I think that a brake hole on the fork should be a maximum.

NO rear brake, NO fenders, NO water bottles, NO cable routing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

as a general concensus.....no water btl bosses..

i mean a track specific geo is a bit too uncomfortable to be ridden in a long distance..thus i believe that there would be no need for one.

anyway...how many times have u seen a build with a btl cage?

I've ridden double centuries on "track geometry" It can be done. Nonetheless, I think it would be wise to leave water bottle bosses off the "Motobecane Track Pro". Lots of people want the clean look. For people who want bottle cages, there are plenty of other ways to attach them.

For instance, I mounted bottles on my track bike with these....
https://www.nashbar.com/profile.cfm?c...%20Accessories

One the other hand, I think an option for a front brake is important. Not having a drilled fork would be a deal breaker for myself and others who aren't dumb enough to ride on the streets brakeless. A drilled fork still leaves the frame totally clean. Perhaps the drilled fork could be an option...sell some with drilled and others without.

The frame itself should be totally clean.

Sell it both as a complete bike and as a frameset.

This is exciting!

I disagree and say one bottle boss on the bike. I have done multiple centuries on a very upright alu track frame and it's not painful with the right fit and bars, but having to use hose clamps to hold on a bottle holder sucks.

edit: milbach once again comes through with a good post. Offer a "purist" option with no drillings at all and a "street" option with front drilling, bottle bosses, and maybe even rack eyelets.

I agree. It can't be that hard to source both drilled and undrilled forks. I image some people here might by both forms and swap them out rather than remove/replace the lever when switching from street to track. That's what I would do.

This could make a very nice late Christmas present if BD gets the orders in soon.

I would also like the Motobecane Pro Track sold as a complete bike and frame/fork set.

honestly, this is good customer service. people declaring their wants/needs directly to the busness person and them trying to fill the needs.

Thanks
I am trying to meet the wants/needs of cyclists and keep the prices in reason. Bikes are a great deal in general; but the amount of the increase in 2009 models bothers me. So I am looking for extra ways to reduce costs and keep prices reasonable; so people can have 2, 3, or 4 bikes

Dude. You know what BD really needs? Marketing swag. Shirts. Water bottles. Crap like that.

Like... I want a Mercier cycling cap. Or a Motobecane water bottle.

Or an "I <3 BikesDirect.com" T-shirt.

They should start with better frame graphics.

Coming from a group that typically wants unbranded frames? Hmmm. They're not the worst in the industry, but not the best. Even Colnago has been known to be garish and don't even get me started on companies like Trek, Look and Felt that turn a frame into a rolling billboard. Must have something to do with four-letter names.

it strikes me as irreconcilably ridiculous that mike from bd has never seen a pista concept before. so much for market research?

I like this alot and will hopefully get a Pro Track when they come out, however:

I REALLY want to stress the need for a Pista Concept copy vs. an FTP. Personally, I am move in favor of a more "classic" looking alu. frame, as the Concept is. Round tubes, no slope, etc.. This is just a personally preference I know, but...

The FTP looks alot more modern with more aero tubes. There are already a fair ammount (or at least more than one) of choices for those who want an aero track frame (Leader and Fetish off the top of my head), but there are zero (that I can think of) options for something like the Concept that I can think off.

Thoughts?

No one usually knows the difference between the two, even well-read fixed gear kiddos. On my campus (hipster central) I walk my white powdercoated Track Pro and I literally get stopped twice a day with "nice concept dude," or, "hey man, is that a concept? looks great."

My point is that the we are already stretching out luck getting a cheap alu/carbon frameset in decent colors, we should just be happy and not worry about tube types. Besides, it's not like Mike is going to be designing every single component of the frame himself.

Meh, I've been asking for an aluminum track frame several months ago, now it will be another 6 months? I probably will just buy what's available now.
