Jesus. No. Miche? You must be joking. The "correct" saddle/seatpost for that bike is a fluted Campy Super Record mated to a suede covered Cinelli Unicanitor (if it really is a 1981 model). Whoever puts a Specialized saddle on that bike should be forbidden from ever owning a classic like that.

a track stem would be nice too but I don't think my back would like it.

It's also newer than '81. That style of decal didn't show up until 1985.

That bike ^^^, or mine? Mine was sold to me as an '81. The scanned catalog image above is from the bulgier webite, cited as 1981.

Yours. As I said above, those decals didn't start appearing on Bianchi's until 1985. Also, it looks like your bike has a sloping fork crown. What kind of tubing is it?

not sure, probably columbus aelle. The seller said it was like an eco model but w/ different geometry. He was right about that.
So far I like it except for having to get the seatpost problem sorted out.

1981 Super Pista:
I agree with the seatpost - maybe the supertype isn't correct for that bike, but I stand by the toupe comment. Modern saddles on classic frames look sick. Brooks on anything older than the 1940s looks like ****. Don't get me wrong, Brooks can be comfy, but they look like ass.

If the seatpost is a weird size, I think Thomson is calling...

there are two things which make me quite angry, though unjustifiably:
1) beautiful bikes being locked up (esp overnight), exposed to the elements, and otherwise treated like crap and
2) beautiful bikes built up like junk

Off craigslist, for too much $ I'm afraid, but that's how it goes sometimes. And if God didn't want us to ride brooks saddles, he wouldn't of made cows out of leather.

That is an awesome frame and cranks. I am covetous. But the handlebar tape thing looks strange. Why not pick up some Celeste color tape or white? Bianchi is known for beautiful design (most of the time). Let them do the work for you...

Thanks - I will change some stuff out in due time, I mainly wanted to get the bike up and running w/ what I had on hand. White turbo saddles on ebay are $$$. When I find the right saddle I will let that dictate the bar tape or grip color choice.

If those turbo saddles are $$ on the internet, its likely from fools buying them for the word, "turbo". You might want to check out some established, high-end shop and see if they have any of those old saddles lying around for cheap.

funny that I have a turbo on it now but its faded grey blah-ness offends some.
When the right saddle comes along at the right price I will get it.

Keep that old turbo on there! It gives the bike such a warm, well-loved look. White cotton tape would look really great on there, especially once it got a little dirty and frayed.

Found some celeste cinelli cork tape yesterday...resisted the impulse buy with authority. I also have a line on a *possibly* white NOS bianchi race saddle...
