Motobecane Fantom Cross UNO

Just got the first production unit in. This bike was built based on lots of input from this and CX forum.
Thanks

I love this bike - spacing wide enough for 38c [and maybe 42c] tires
eyelets; rack brazeons FRT & rr
38T x 16T stock gearing
precision sealed hubs; dbl wall rims
all 4130 tubing; super nice fork
Avid cantis

better photos soon
booking available soon at intro price of $399
comes in BLACK or WHITE
49, 52, 54, 56, 58, 61, and 64

Landing around Sept 10th or so -- could easy sell out first load before they land [I think]

Sorry my first photo is not to good [the imaging guy in the office will do a better job than I]

I love SS/FG and CX - so this is a great combo to me
lots of fun to ride too

Wish you had this back when I got my San Jose.
Fixed gear CX is the best.
They arn't as hip as tarck bikes, but damn they sure do make a ton of sense for commuting, are a ton of fun on the trails.

And that picture reminds me that I need to order a cross lever for my brake.

We never put decals over clearcoat - sorry

BUT the white version has white decals with silver trim; so they can hardly be seen

I had not even seen the link yet

http://www.bikesdirect.com/products/motobecane/uno.htm

As it is not 'offically' on the site yet and gallery etc is not completed
web guy will complete today

Geo is same as messenger with small changes for tire spacer needed [different rear tri and fork]

Here is a better picture; once gallery is up - details will be easier to see

i agree that the cabling is a dealbreaker.

robcycle 08-13-08 09:39 PM

Track ends, 4130, clearance for 1.9's, $400? I have found my next bike.

Monstercross it is :-)

why is that?

cable slap taking out paint?

jet sanchEz 08-13-08 11:30 PM

Cannot shoulder it with cables underneath.

Hey Mike- do you have any photos of the white frame?

No - I wish I did [as I want a white one]

The white is 'standard' White
and the decals are the same color - so only the real thin silver and red trim lines will show.

The look will be ghosted out

Like we use on the Vent Noir

~~~ this is interesting
White just paseed Silver as nUmber 1 car color
AND of the top five "colors" only one is a color
WHITE, SILVER, BLACK, RED, GRAY
cc700 08-14-08 10:48 PM
beautiful. unlucky for me i have no money, but white sounds great.
Ahh. that makes sense.
I was way off:lol:
I just bought one, this is essentially exactly what I was looking for when I was searching for my all terrain commuter all those months ago.
everything else i saw took away as many features i was looking for as they were offering, so I am very happy with the feature set. was in between the 61 cm and the 64, ended up going 64.
i have a question though, why are the breaks being put where they are and not further down on the drop bars like normal?
i know i already made the payment but it would be nice to see some offered with racks and fenders, i think a lot of people will be getting these for urban commuters where they will be spending significant amount of time going thru construction zones
glad it was offered in cromo, aluminum would have been a dealbreaker for me.
