What might this be worth? Eddy Merckx inside...

Local, here in Hawaii. Not sure what it might be worth.

that price, based on what i'm seeing and what he's saying, is great. i wouldn't pay more than $1200, but it can probably fetch more--
i could see it going for $1500 on ebay. the OBO is kinda dope, too. Maybe he'll go as low as $800?

though i will say, posting something like that on this forum is running the risk of being outbit by someone else.

deathhare 08-13-08 08:36 PM

go buy it

gehrkead 08-13-08 08:51 PM

yes please buy that immediately, or i am buying a plane ticket and doing it myself.

SingleSpeeDemon 08-13-08 08:55 PM

too late. i've already chartered a plane. see ya suckas!

whalesalad 08-13-08 09:52 PM

Haha I knew the risks posting it here, but I also really have no idea what Eddy Merckx stuff is worth. I personally don't find that stuff that great.

I get paid in a few days, if its still around I'll go buy it and put it on ebay for you suckers.

whalesalad 08-13-08 09:59 PM

Some dude is coming to pick it up from the chick selling it in 15, but if he doesn't buy it I got dibbs and my buddy is gonna put up cash (which for some reason he has in his possession right now in my office, rofl) to go buy it and i'll have it today.

I guess they had an old MASI too that sold almost minutes after they put it on CL.

Oh really? Why not? I assume you know that the early Eddy Merckx frames (like that one) were known as the "Belgian De Rosa" for a reason. If it's the aesthetic element, ok. But if you're implying that those frames are somehow not up to snuff, you are just wrong.

It's old. Get a Leader or Fetish instead.

It is going to go to the guy who sees it first, sorry to break it to you. That is a $2000 bike on eBay, probably more because it is a popular size.

Doc_Holiday 08-13-08 11:08 PM

^^LOL. But yeah, I would have been all over that thing if I were you. It is an amazingly well built bike and is a little piece of biking history, just thinking about how many cool bikes like that have been lost in sheds and garages makes me sick. But then again thats me, and I go to garage sales and consignment stores every weekend hoping that some old lady is selling he son's old Team 711 Huffy/Serotta or Merckx bike.

Not to mention the shipping from mainland USA to HI would be over $200 (shipping was $92 recently for a bike from our shop in SW Ohio to Michigan), so anyone with sense would take local pickup for a half-priced bike.

jet sanchEz 08-13-08 11:15 PM

Nah, do a BIN for $2000 with a $100 shipping charge and eat the other $100 you will have to pay and you are still up $900. That's rent, baaby.
