Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

can you tell me top quality single speed bikes??

can anybody tell me the most ridiculously expensive single speed bicycle going? if not, would you be able to direct me into the right direction into finding out; maybe a company or website, or even an expensive brand?

There's a company based out of Missoula, MT that will custom build you a single speed for close to a million dollars. They actually do a digital scan of your body and base the entire build on that scan. I've heard that the most annoying part of it is that you aren't supposed to eat anything for 24 hours beforehand, because it can throw your weight off by a bit and make the bike not fit right.

Lots of crazy frames available. Look at any of the companies the olympic riders used. BMC Time Machine and Ridley just to name a few. They get up there. I think the Time Machine is 12 thousand something for the frame only.

Buy the most expensive track frame you can find, stick the most expensive components you can find on it, then learn to stop Ted Shred-style.

Or buy the most expensive anything frame you can find, and build up the rear wheel with an eccentric hub.

Carbon fiber everything on a ridiculously expensive track frame and that should take you into the stratosphere you are aiming for.

Ridley stuff isn't really that expensive and the Time Machine is a TT bike. The Track Machine isn't that much money either when you're talking about super expensive stuff.

Maybe you should stick to "investing" in new sneakers.

basically, i am researching for a TV company and we need to know the most expensive. again, after looking into all of these suggestions, i still have nothing more expensive than the 69er single speed.

you seem to know what you are talking about.. and from your last message, i guess there probably aren't that many answers, but anything you can think may help..?

Easiest answer?

$10,000 for the frame alone.

Do you mean a company which produces televisions or a company in the broadcasting industry? I really hope it's the latter, perhaps the BBC, and you guys are planning a new run of Mr. Bean and instead of a Mini, he rides around on a high-dollar track bike doing skids, barspins and the occasional face-plant for comic effect.

RE: Koga

That number is slightly skewed though. It includes the cost of R&D. You can't just go out and buy one of those for $1 million dollars.
