Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Dumb spoke question...

So, a friend of mine at work is taking me under his wing to show me how to build my first set of 700c flip/flop wheels.

He's ordering the spokes through the shop, but I was wondering if said spokes generally include nipples as well?

He had decided on DT champions or something similar.

I found some red anodized nipples on prowheelbuilder for about .25 each and thought I'd get those if not.

Typically anodized parts arent gonna be the most HQ parts out there, but they're probably fine. Also, typically; nipples dont come with spokes. I'd reccomend talking to him and seeing what he says for spoke nipples. Prowheelbuilder is def the way to go tho.
I tried building a pair but failed and had to get them re built.
Good luck!

My bad, they're not anodized, they're "alloy".

Don't use alloy (aluminum). Use brass.
If you use aluminum nipples at some point within the next year (especially if you ride every day) you will hear "PING!" and be super pissed that you didn't get brass.
