Wet Timbuk2. Is this common?
(I originally posted this on the commuter forum, but thought you guys seem to know your bags pretty well. Please disregard if I'm just being annoying!)
So I was out in some pretty heavy rain today and went I got back the inside of my Timbuk2 bag was a little wet. Now, I know that Timbuk2 bags aren’t the best as far as messenger bags go, but still, I was a little disappointed to see this. Does water just get in around the flap, or is there actually somewhere where these bags tend to leak. I’m going to hope that is was just water that dripped in from the outside when it was open at some point, but I am curious to see if anyone else has had any experiences like this.

My Timbuk2 has never leaked....BUT I will say it's one of the made is SF custom ones vs. the imported off the shelf models. I imagine that makes quite a difference.

Mine hasn't really ever leaked either, but i've had it a long time (from the made in SF days). I suspect it more likely that water got in through a gap instead of soaking through the material.

i'm not a huge fan of my timbuk2 bag, but i will say that it's never leaked when the lap was pulled around tight. the other day i rode home in the rain with a hard drive in my bag. i got a little nervous about halfway through the ride realizing i had done this, but i got home and it was all bone dry. oh, and it was a 30 minute ride, in medium heavy rain.

I put mine in the washer once, and when I pulled it out, there was a good amount of water inside that hadn't spun out. That should be a good indication.
