Syntace Stratos - 40mm or 80mm?

Howdy all,

I'm going to order myself a pair of the Syntace bullhorns in either 40mm or 80mm. However, if anyone out there has either and could show me what they look like on your bike, it'd be much obliged. I've been poking around the pictures thread here and the FGG. but it seems like most of the bikes have the 20mm drop bullhorns.

So, yeah... if you have the 400 or 800 Stratos bullhorns, lemme see!

Thanks
m.

i had the 800 bars at one point. they were dandy as far as shape, but i'm addicted to steel bars, so i have them no longer.

i have the 40mm ones. Although i dont have a picture cause my camera is broken. I like em alot. the drop is just right. you can get a whole bunch of hand positions in on them things. i reluctantly switched to those from my drops and havent looked back since.
...and they look super rad.
Havent tried or seen the 80mm drop onse except for ebay. Something inside of me says that that might be too much drop for a set of horns but then again ive never ridden them

very strange... My Syntase stratos (4cm drop) are stiff as hell. Much stiffer than my nitto bullhorns (RB019). Got them off of ebay. They are the 39cm ones and I like them very much. Just keep in mind that if you wish to run a brake close up by them stem it can be difficult (read expensive - IRD makes one) to find a lever that fits since the bars remain 26mm until they start dropping.

I had originally wanted the Zero Drop Santace Stratos bars, but my lbs had the Profile Designs in stock and so I went with them instead.
So, I understand from previous posts in this thread that aluminum alloy bars flex and steel ones don't?
Do I understand that correctly?
I don't feel my Profile Designs flexing, although I imagine I could get them to flex more easily than I could steel bars, if I really tried.
But, people really have an issue with flex and reject aluminum alloy bars for that reason?
I just want to know.

Sorry, it's been a bit. The 800mm are the 40 degree drop right? Regardless, mine are the 40 degree drop.

if youre still interested in seeing them (800) on a bike, here's some I took with my crappy pc cam:

on this funny bike frame they end up being at about the level drops on a standard (level top tube/700c front wheel) frame would be.

Thanks for the help, folks! I ordered the 800s. If anyone else is interested, Wheel & Sprocket has a pile of them on closeout. The 800s are 34.99 BIN, the 400s are 29.99 BIN.
