Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Thanks to everyone, but I have.....

Want to thank everyone for lots of good feedback to these old bones. So, I was given a mercier kilo tt and started replacing things. new wheels velocity deep V with Paul hubs, gator tires, new fixed 17 and freewheel 17 by white. I have a 1/8 chain per Bikes Direct. I'm hearing chain noise since putting on new hubs! I think it's the chain line. The specs say 42 but the paul hub says it has a 44. I'm new to single speed. Where to go from here? Do I live with the noise - bike rides fine. OR what?? I really don't want to change the bb until I get a new set of cranks. The cranks I have now are fine for now. Looking for some ideas and perhaps and easy fix?? God fobid, right?

i would recomend getting a miche bottom bracket, that way you can adjust the chain line and it won't rub the wrong way and wear your components out quicker than normal and be more quiet.
